Alone in The Dark 1 cd

Hi.
Recently I have tried to run AITD 1 CD(with cd audio, digital music etc.). Now, I used VDMS and it seemed to play ok but the flaw is that it doesn't want to run the music whatever I do. Which is quite strange as it reads the introduction very well( Carnaby talking or that lady) and both music and voices are played as sound so it shouldn't have any problems with music. Well, I got Sound Blaster Live but I don't think it's the music card. Frankly, I have no idea what's the matter. In addition I must say that the other episodes of AITD(2,3) play perfectly well with the same options so it's odd. If anyone got any idea please share it with me.

Are you sure it isn't a ripped cd you have ?
(ripped=whitout some large files,ex vid's or large music files)

100% sure. You have to understand- the music is there alright , I can listen to it in Windows Media Player. I remember that it worked allright on Windows 98...

I just checked with Dosbox- works with music etc. but it doesn't quite suit me , as Dosbox is extremely slow. Odd really.

Wasn't there something about EMS allocation?If i remember there should be about 4 Mb Ems allocated (or 2Mb).
Have you rightclick on the exe and allocated ems ?If not give it a try.
It is the only thing that i seems to remember about those aitd games.

And you could run a install or a setup, but i suppose you already did.
Wasn't there also not a ingame key to alter sounds / music ? Via the <ESC> key ?
Sorry , seems i forgotten the whole game , maybe someone else ?
