Hello
Hi,
Name: Vincent
Age: 15... well 14 actually.
Like: Games, Games

I'm from Zoetermeer (Sweet Lake City) in Holland. wat betekent dat ik beter ben, en heel bescheiden. I have no idea why I'm introducing myself, since everybody is lying dead on the ground. Oh well

China will take over the world. Be prepared to spend the rest of you life eating rice and gaping at beautiful Chinese women.

Hi, I'm 31 and a homeschooling mom in Eastern Canada.
I'm on several computer and gaming forums but all the talk is AMD 64's and HL2.
Which I like but I can't afford. So I'm building a 486 or 586 DOS box and buying old games to play. I know there are DOS emulators and I'm a huge Home of the Underdogs fan but I like the real thing.
Plus, I found Darklands, Command HQ, a pack of 3 AD&D games AND Starflight (starflight!!!) at the Salvation Army all in their boxes w/ manuals and code wheels and everything. Command HQ was still shrinkwrapped for goodness sakes...And none of the young folks on my other gaming forums gave a damn.
I need a site that will appreciate that kind of thing. Hope this is it!

While a good majority of the members here are in our 20s or teenagers, some of us more or less mature than what you'd expect of people that age, most of us are also diehard dosgame fanatics. (and, to a lesser degree, DOS fanatics) Whether because we're intelligent enough to recognize the quality of games of that era, or just too poor/cheap to afford modern games is up to debate, however.
Down to business:
Starflight!?!?!?!! Ahhhhhrshghj! Holyfreakingbuddhaonamountainthatslikemyfavoritegameever!!! *ahem* Sorry, but I really love Starflight... so many memories. It's amazing you found it - I talked to a guy who once spent $95 just to purchase an original copy. Actually, you couple probably make some fairly good cash on E-bay if you sold. (Not that I would sell in your position)
Anyway, what were the 3 AD&D games? I always loved that series (especially Dark Sun 1&2, though the newer Forgotten Realms games aren't bad either - just easier to get) and it'd be cool just to hear about them.
Again, welcome to the forum! It may be a bit to quiet, odd, or immature for your tastes... but if you stick around long enough, you'll come to like it.

Oops. I should apologize for this. It's not fair and implies a) younger people in general aren't interested in these games and b) aren't smart enough to be.And none of the young folks on my other gaming forums gave a damn.
For the record, I find gamers (modern games, DOS, consoles) of all stripes to be fun, sharp thinkers and very open minded. They universally 'get it' when I explain our method of homeschooling is to let our kids play what they want and fill the house with toys and gaming gear for instance.
The 3 AD&D games are Heroes of the Lance, Dragons of the Flame and Hillsfar. Never played them before. Can't wait to play Darklands as I read a great review on Underdogs and my Starflight...I'm with you. It will not be sold. It's even got a little ad insert for the cluebook...No way I can part with it.
