Dos Game Runs Really Slow!!

Post by Guest »

Hi Guys,

I have a small problem!

I have a dos game on XP. It ran perfectly, just there was no sound!

I downloaded 'VDMSound', and this fixed my sound problem!!!

Now, I have sound, but the game runs really slow! Way to slow to play the game!

I have tryed right click the .exe file, properties, and ran through those options, but nothing seems to help!

Can anybody help?

Thanks.

Decide which is better, hearing the sound but being unable to play the game, or being able to play the game but not hear the sound.

Just a small thought, DOS games seem to run slowly on XP unless you have it running full screen. You have not suddenly started running it windowed have you?

If you still have win98 laying around consider dual boot, that will solve a lot of your problems with dosgames.70-80% of the dosgames runs under w98.

If what others suggested still don't help, then download Speedset. You can download it here or at the underdogs. It is used to speed games up. It also has another function that is to slow games down but you won't need that. :D

Dosbox don't realy needs lot's of memory to run, what it need is CPU power. Kill (shutdown) EVERYTHING you don't need and runs in the background eating up all your precious systemrecources.
Do NOT allow msn "activate" at windows startup.
Shut your 'active ' desktop down.
Do NOT activate your internet conection auto at startup.
Run once in a while a spywarekiller( plenty good ones free on internet).
Run once in a while a antivirus program( plenty good ones free on internet)
Run once in a while a registry cleaner( plenty good ones free on internet).
Run once in a while a windows cleaner( plenty good ones free on internet).
If you don't use a LAN, shut it down in your bios settings.(if present)
If you don't use fire-wire shut it down in your bios settings.(if present)
Run a clean XP;
READ the manual you get with your pc and optimise your bios settings.
Good luck.
