problem running worms armageddon on XP

Please help, i have installed worms armageddon on XP home upgrade and i can't get it to run. There is plenty of ram on the pc, pentium 3 or 4 (not sure), a good video card, and it seems to have installed ok but won't run?! At first I was getting error message

The instruction at 'oxoieo28bo' referenced memory at 'oxoie54doo'. The memory could not be read. Click ok to terminate.

I tried reinstalling with patches but now when i try to run it the screens goes black for a moment before reverting to desktop. Age of empires runs ok so i'm confused!

AFAIK, WA / WWP were designed to be played on Windows, so that probably isn't your problem.

Check all your Graphics card settings, and also the resolution you are playing at.
