need a good html & database book?

Post by starsky79 »

anyone know a good html book and good database book that I can buy from bookstore or online? Something for starters. Actually a step up for starters on the html. I know basic html...but looked to advance my knowledge and get into flash. I also need to get a database program and book...any suggestions would be helpful

Can't comment on Flash, but I can recommend a good PHP/MySQL book:

<a href="http://www.sitepoint.com/books/phpmysql1/">Build Your Own Database Driven Website Using PHP & MySQL</a> by SitePoint.com ... as long as you already know HTML pretty well, I think that book will be very helpful. There's some free sample chapters you can download from the site so you can preview the book.

Dynamic websites are where it's at. (I wish I'd originally done dosgames.com in a database rather than static HTML pages!)

(The book is also available from <a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/de ... >Amazon</a>)

you could also try the free alternative

http://www.w3schools.com which has almost everything to do with the internet there.

Agreed, w3schools.com is an excellent site ... I recommend especially going through the sections on CSS and Javascript.

However you won't learn PHP there ... so the book above is still a good choice ;) For a free alternative to the PHP book, you can try http://www.phpbuddy.com/ ... or for a more exhaustive and complete tutorial, http://www.hudzilla.org/phpbook/
