When you set an .exe file to run through VDM Sound settings and you've saved the settings, does the settings still work when you try to run a games .exe file through DOSBox
I'm about to try this with Star Trek: A Final Unity as people have been suggesting this is the only program that can help it work on DOSBox without any errors appearing while loading the game and I wanted to clairfy it to make sure it can be done.

I'm able to make STTNG:AFU work fine with only VDM Sound. I don't need to use DOS Box. The only two suggestions are 1.) Enable low-level CD-ROM support, and 2.) Configure the sound settings for SB 8 in the game's setup utility. As far as I know you must do number 1 or else the game won't see your CD-ROM drive. Number two is just advice. The difference is the amount of static you have to deal with. I haven't quite figured out how to solve this problem yet.
How do you enable low level CD-ROM support in DOSBox?
Using VDM sound I don't think I can use it because after ten seconds the screen can't handle the resoultion so it keeps kicking back to my desktop but its still running because it drops to the taskbar so I have to keep bringing it back up does this while in setup as well. I'm running it off a 17' Inch monitor on XP

I don't know how you would enable low-level CD-ROM support in DOS Box. With VDM sound it is a clickable feature (that is, if you have VDM launchpad with VDM Sound). From what I've seen low-level support is just another term for using MSCDEX which is the DOS driver to the CD-ROM drive. MSCDEX is separate from your CD-ROM driver and loaded from the autoexec.bat as opposed to config.sys. I haven't really messed around with DOSBox, so I don't know exactly how it works.
I also have a 17' inch monitor. You may want to try VESA drivers (which is another clickable feature in VDM Sound). I do not the video driver problem you mentioned.
