Descent speed problems

ok. this hopefully hasn't come up before, but i just downloaded descent 1 and the forward and reverse and turning speeds are fine, but when i fire weapons they disappear and my energy runs out. also the ship "vibrates" up and down really fast and robots blow up so fast if you blink you could have missed it twice. This does make sense since my comp is 30 times faster than what it was supposed to run on, but is there any way i can slow it down? HELP!!

there is a program called Slomo
it slows down an application by a certain %
