Want to talk about your hardware setup? Brag about your super-machine's layout? Pretend you know a lot about computers? You can do all that and more in this forum.
Man I wish I had Win 85. But yeah, that isn't ancient. My old 286 machine is ancient. So is my brother laptop. Not a notebook. This is a real laptop. You know, those big bulky things. They were really just portable computers.
486s still don't seem old. Some of them (as long as they have a PCI slot) you can turn into file servers for a modern network. It's cool.
Anyway, I have an original IBM PC 5150, 4.77mhz. 8088 processor. Also a Leading Edge Model D (IBM PC clone) that is the same speed but has a "turbo" switch so it can go up to the superfast speed of 7.16mhz.
So far, I still haven't found a good use for these in modern application. That would be reall neat. I found instructions on making an old IBM PC compatible into a dumb terminal for Linux systems. Never tried it yet though.
