DOSBOX running slow

Hello, I've installed Dosbox and D-Fend op my computer.
The games I play on dosbox run very slow.I have already increased the CPU cyles to 20000, which is the maximum, and I've allocated more memory for dosbox.More loadfix and game memory.I've also tried to increase the frameskip but even at 10 it doesn't run at full speed.
The sound is also fragmented beacuse it runs slow.
Could somebody help me out?

DOSBox needs a fairly powerful machine to run at decent speed. Do you have a Pentium 4?

Yeah nice point Frenkel. DOSBox is not that great with 32-bit games (although it may be able to play some of them) no matter how powerful your computer is.

Most games made 1995 or later are 32-bit.

I want to play games like Keen 4 and Prehistorik man etc.
Now you've mentioned it, my pc is pretty old.
A celeron 533 Mhz to be precise
