Looking for old fantasy game

Post by bansh33 »

Hey guys, hoping you can help me find the name of an old strategy fantasy game I played on my Amstrad years ago.

Here is what I can remember about it.
It was a turn base style, the layout was like a chess board, 1 or 2 players on same keyboard, at the start you select from a range of characters, from memory some of the characters where, water elements, fire creatures, flying ghost creatures, knights, ext… lol yeah the description is shabby, cant remember it well :shame:

The characters move around a board, like chess, but instead of taking over a spot you would do a bird’s eye view battle to take the spot

Sorry for a shab description, it was so long ago, but it was a sweet game, really want to try it again, any help on this one would be ace

Thnx bansh33

The game in question is called Archon (at least on the Amega Computer that was what it was called). As far as I remember, the PC post was Battle Chess, and it was a lame clone.

I haven't ran across it, but if you do a google search for Archon, you might get lucky.

Here is a picture of Archon Ultra

There are different kind of Archron - Archon, Archon 2, Archon 3, Archon Ultra etc for different platform - PC, Amiga, C64, Apple II & Amtrad.

If you confirm the name of the game you are looking for, there might be a way to give you a link if you can't find one. ;)

Did the chess pieces kill eachother as you took their spot? Like, would the queen smash other pieces with her chair?
