OLD 1982-85 starfleet game --NOT A STAR TREK game

Post by worf1972 »

Help , seeking to find a game I believe was called "Starfleet". It had nothing to do with Star Trek. It was a space game where your starship was just a simple letter you picked.

It had dots indicating X & Y graph access that your ship would travel. One could attack other enemy ships buy attacking with beaning your marines over. Or shoot across the X & Y coordinates with phasers or torpedos.

I believe I was using the old IBM dos duel floppy disk computer at the time. Does anyone know how to get this game? It brings back memories of my years first playing on a computer.

THE CORRECT NAME

Post by worf1972 »

The correct name was " Star Fleet "game two separate words . It was from the EARLY 1980's... It was orginally made for the IBM two large floppy drive system that only could handle 1.00 and 2.00 DOS operating systems.

I remember that one quite well, I used to play it all the time. The name you are looking for is Starflight. First game I recall that had a wheel code protection. You could upgrade your phasers and torps, and I do recall the plot was to find another planet suitable for earth because the sun was about to blow up. It had wormholes and such. Pretty damn neat game. Ran on a 3.60k disk and provided with hours of fun!

YES YES I REMEMBER STARFLIGHT

Post by worf1972 »

Yes I remeber starflight, you would mined various planets to obtain enough money to upgrade your ship. BUT this game "STAR FLEET" WAS much more simple then that.

It was just a simple letter ( that you choose to name your ship )and dots
that you would travel on being attacked and attacking the enemy.

It's called Starfleet I: The War Begins. I'm trying to find a DOS version that won't quit running after the third play.
