Don't know name of game

Can't remember much as I played it when i was about 10. But I think you were some sort of jumping purple man. who was being chased around by many other creatures who were carrying 'musical instruments' on a board of 6x6 squares
I keep thinking it was something along the lines of jumping jack flash but remeber my mate correcting me every time I called it that.
Please help!

This does sound like Q*bert but i dont know.

A few things are different:

1) Q*Bert is orange

2) No musical Instruments are on this game

3) The enemys are generally snakes, Bubbles, Magnets and so on
