Help remembering old fantasy/roleplay/strategy game

I can't even remember if this was an old DOS game or but the biggest thing i remember was that there were armies fighting and you could set traps on the battle field. You could also summon this big guy in a charriot that you could control and really tear things up. It also let you capture enemy soliders, interrogate them, make new spells/potions/soldiers. I know, really vague but for some reason it just popped into my head recently. I think i had a dream about it

and it wasn't turn based

This is definitely Dominus! A great game I played years ago.
