Dare To Dream on Windows XP?

Post by dpolsrod »

I have just downloaded the shareware version of Dare to Dream Chapter 1, and I'm having problems getting it to run on XP.
I have downloaded the VBRUN100.dll file and put it in the same folder.
I also have set the Compatibility mode to Windows 95 and turned off advanced text services.
But when I start the game, a window pops up saying

Code: Select all

Application Error

DARE2DRM caused Segment Load Failure in
module VBRUN100.DLL at 000D:03F6.

Choose close. DARE2DRM will close.
Does anybody know how to get this game working in WinXP?

A couple of tips that may or may not help:

Try downloading another copy of VBRUN100.DLL somewhere else.

Also copy it to both the SYSTEM and SYSTEM32 folders in your WINDOWS folder.

Already tried that. Didn't work.

That worked!
I figured that vbrun100.dll was vbrun100.dll no matter where you got it...
Apparently not.
If anybody else has the same problem;
I downloaded the file here, and then placed it in the Dare 2 Dream folder.
Simple as that.
Thank you, Guest!

Was there someone who had the entire game?
I REALLY don't feel like forking out $25 for a game of(presumably) 6-7 MB...
Especially since I live in Europe and have to pay a substantial toll for games purchased outside of my country...
