Greets!
I recently installed Stonekeep on my WinXP machine. Everything works fine, but there is one problem: the game is really slow. I tried both, run it under WinXP directly (with VDMSound) an run it under DOSBox 0.61. The result is the same: the sound stutters and the actions in the game are much too slow.
I understand why its slow under DOSBox because the program emulates a whole PC. But why under WinXP? My machine is an AMD Athlon 64 3200+ with ATI Radeon 9800 Pro and 1 GB RAM, the OS is WinXP Pro SP2. Stonekeep runs in version 1.2.
Any ideas to get ist faster?

Stonekeep too slow under WinXP
If you kill five peaople one after the other
in UT2004 it's called MONSTERKILL,
in Quake III Arena it's EXCELLENT
and in Counter-Strike mostly KICKED BY CONSOLE!

Hm...I remember a program circling around a while ago but I've never used it.....PITSET...
Download here.
Also have you tried the clocking options in DOSBox? They are available in the DOSBox manual but even with your computer specs DOSBox is probably only capable of emulating the slowest of Pentiums..which probably isn't enough.
Sounds about right doesn't it?Slow DOS game performance and/or music
Some games will run slower under Windows 9x/NT/2k than
they do in DOS. This is caused by the way Windows
emulates the timer interrupt.

*But what If I don't want to do that?*
*Well why phone if you won't take my advice?*
*Because I wanted someone to talk to*
*Well if you won't press Ctrl+Alt+Delete press that little button just beneath where the handset goes on your phone*
