I have an old 486 with about 200mb hard disk. I used to have an mouse. The once I got mad cause the coard wasn't long enough I pulled opon it. The coard broke. The I got a new mouse installed the drivers and nothing happened. The I got a serial port adapter. NOTHING! If extension is exe/com, add followin' line to autoexec.bat:

c:\mouse\driver.com

If sys, to config.sys:
device=c:\mouse\driver.sys (if expanded memory manager is set up, use devicehigh= instead o' device)

Thou MUST know correct directory and driver! Use command 'dir' to check.
NO Windows, NO DOSBox, DOS!

if you still have the old mouse why not try to rewire it?
its easy and safe.

Just match the wires and then twist each one and cover with electric tape :)
