DARKSEED, what the hell is wrong with this game?!?!?

Does anyone know of an older game from 1994 called Darkseed? Well I just picked up a copy at a used game store today, and it worked fine at first, but then at this one part where I talk to the librarian to retrieve the book that was on reserve, I talk to her, and the game fades to dark, then is at the start screen again! It RESTARTS the game when I talk to the librarian, so I can't progress with the plot!! I'm running Win98, but it has this same problem in both Windows and when I run in MS-DOS mode from a boot disk... If anyone knows anything about this game and why this is happening, please tell me! Another thing that seems a little off is that each time I save or load, the game flashes an error message at the bottom of the screen really fast, but the game still seems to run okay.

Well.. you may be more successful if you try going to www.bootdisk.com

Look for a good bootdisk there for dos and you should be right

if not Dosbox dosbox.sourceforge.net

You could also have corrupted files on the disc as you did buy it 2nd hand.
