Old SNES or Genesis Game

I'm not certain what platform it was for, but im looking for an old game I use to play. All I can remember about it is while playing you would get differnt "pick-ups" or, as I like to refer to them, "masks". Each "mask" had a special ability or power. When you would pick up a different mask you would gain its power and your whole apperance would change. I think one mask made your outfit turn green and gave you a laser and another made you look like a skeleton and you could throw, something like, rock hammers. Each ability matched your outfit and helped you advance in the game. I also keep thinking the title had the word "Kid" in it for some reason. Any help is wonderful.
