mouse won't work inDOS

I can't get my mouse to work while running the games lemmings in DOS mode. The game works fine with the keyboard controls but not the mouse. We are running windows 98

if you have a USB mouse that is the problem

First of all, you need to know what type of mouse you have which it could be either, PS/2, Serial or USB...Serial or PS/2 it should work in DOS without drivers, but if it's USB then you should know that it probably won't work as USB Mice and Keyboards don't have DOS drivers only Windows Drivers.

Not strictly true on either counts.

USB dos drivers exist, certain versions even detect mice/keyboards by default. Once you have such a USB driver installed (needs a config.sys edit or two), most usb mice will work fine under win9X DOS.

WinXP has a built-in mouse driver, win98 DOES NOT.

Should work under win98, extract the zip and run mouse.exe before running the game, or stick a link to it into your autoexec.bat file.

It should work under almost any version of DOS.
