Need Help With A Story I'm Writing
Ok, I'm trying to write a thrilling and spine chilling story but I need help, basically I need some spine chilling ideas which are actually based off true events which will be jumbled into fiction to make it scary as all hell...does anybody have any suggestions??

Writing something scary is really hard... You have to bring up the scary athmosphere first. What kind of horror story are you writing? Different kinds of things scare different people... Try to put the reader in a totally new world! With things that don't really exist. SCARY things that don't really exist. You must get the reader to IMAGINE something scary. One good trick is not to fully describe the "monster" but let the reader him/herself imagine what it actually looks like... Though that depends on the reader's imagination and experiences. Belive me, it's VERY easy to imagine some horrible monsters after you've played, for example, Half-life.
"Long before there was ultra-super-duper-128-bit-polygon-video-capture, hardware hype, wEiRd TyPe, pointless game ratings, E3, SCREAMING GUYS in ads, Virtual Reality, cliches like "in your face" and "it's the ultimate", 360 degree roto-scope-rhetoric from self righteous reviewers, CD-this, 3-D that, multi-million-dollar TV commercials tainted with TOILET humor...
...there was fun."

Wouldn't it be worse to see them doing it with clothes on? Then not only would you be grossed out, but you'd doubt whether or not their homosapiens.wardrich wrote:seeing your parents without any clothes on / having sex...

The best way to make something creepy, in my opinion, is to only let out a few clues about the villian or villianous actions as possible at a time. Don't give the whole description in a single paragraph. Also, don't pick a cliche` setting, like a cemetary or a morgue.

Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde, Frankenstien*, and Mien Kampf all go to show the most horrifying thing we know of is ourselves. Avoid supernatural and or corny *physical* "monster" types and rather focus on the mental aspects of the villian.
*Yes, Frankenstien's monster was deformed, but the real horror was the actions and mindset of M. Frankenstien himself. (and the consequences)
