Duke Nukem 3D
I have the game CD and I'm trying to get it to run on Windows XP.
All I did was go into Explorer and click on the CD drive and then INSTALL
That should install game on your computer.
The game works fine without sound... rendering it totally unplayable.
It doesn't work at higher resolutions (VESA) for who knows why.
The problem is my SoundMAX card that doesn't support DOS games.
I downloaded a Soundblaster emulator to try and get sounds.
I hope it works.

Duke 3D
Well, I don't know what I did wrong, but I can't get Duke Nukem 3D to work.
I go in Windows Explorer and right-click on DUKE3D so I can get the "run with VDMS" option.
Game load but then freezes immediately at intro screen. No sound before that.
I don't know how to fix it, especially since VDMS says the IRQ and addresses are irrelevant and shouldn't be bothered with.
Maybe the simple thing is to buy and old computer with a good soundcard.

Wally is the local VDMSound fanatic around here-but apparently your problem is being caused by a sound bug in Duke 3D. Luckily, it's easily patched... go to http://www.3drealms.com/downloads.html and scroll down to "Duke 3D" for more details.

IT FINALLY WORKS!!!
I didn't find a patch at the website you suggested. But I did find the solution in another tread on this forum. I can't remember who suggested it, but whoever you are, THANK YOU.
I remember the website, so if you can't get Duke 3D to run, try this:
http://jonof.edgenetwork.org/buildport/duke3d/
Now, excuse me, I have to go PLAY
