Want to talk about your hardware setup? Brag about your super-machine's layout? Pretend you know a lot about computers? You can do all that and more in this forum.
but I have 2 Pentium MMX's, a 486 DX, a Pentium II MMX and currently in the building of the greatest of all machines that will conquer and desimate all it's competitors!!
BTw who evers fan was noisy probably has a load of dust on it
try cleaning it
I dont have a problem with intel chips (have a p3-733 here somewhere) but I would avoid the celeron like the plague (very crappy output for their clock speed). An athlon xp, a real p4, or even a duron is a much better chip.

I can getthat PC (And was going to) for $400 canadian.
Why didnt you get that then??? It would have been a nice machine I guess. The one im getting is manufactured by Dell Australia. Is that the one you are getting Kazer0? It would be manufactured by Dell Canada though
my bitch:
Pentium 4 2.2 Ghz
80 GB HD (I've had the computer for about 2 weeks, and I already got only 10 gbs of free space. wtf?!)
512 MB RAM
ATI Radeon 9200 SE 128 MB graphics card
XP Proffesional
and a beauty of a Combo Drive by LG, which writes CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD-ROM, and reads all the other other options! magnifique!
sasha: Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go have sex with my boyfriend.
anyway, from 3 old comps I built an almost-solid 75 mhz, 426 gig hard drive, and somewhere round 30 megs o ram. Orchid farenheit 1280 vid card. It was a piece of crap. even though i haven't put it together yet, I got a p II 266 mhz processor and a real atx mobo. wheeee...
Aaaayyyy, there ain't no crap PC's on this site. Ask U_K, he's got the full range and should help setup a museum.
Me, I just like to max-out any PC I have, no matter how lowly. Tweeks is still fun 4 the MIPS hobbist (12 more "sysmarks", alllllllrrrriiiggghhttt!! ). 4 instance, I bet that P75 will just take a 100 or 133 chip if you just knew the jumpers.

Sure I will setup a museum, send me all the old software packages you have (including the box and manuals) and I will get to work (since I already own 1 of each generation PC).

One of everything would be nice especially anything technical (cad, math, engineering, science, physics, etc)
I have been looking for Norton Desktop 2 or 3 but havnt found it (Windows 3.1 era).
The computer store has Norton Desktop (Not sure which version) that they are going to sell on e-bay. It's old, and says "NOW WORKS WITH WINDOWS 95!" on it.

All sing along: "Every PC is precious, every PC belongs..." (Que the dancing Smerfs.)
U_K: I've got Norton 6 for DOS. I'll check to see if the disks are still viable. Same with the pile of 5-1/4's. I should be copying them to CD soon before all the bytes sift to the bottom of the disks anyway.

Do you gus know where to find 256kbit x 4 DRAM 20 pin DIP chips?
They were common in ISA video cards (8 pcs for 1mb)and on some old motherboards. I need 16 to upgrade an scsi card I got with my Amiga 2000 the other day.
I seen somebody selling Norton Desktop 2.2 on ebay but they want $10 for shipping something that would cost $1 via USPS media mail, I hate that.
Ive gone through a ton..some super expensive 3ghz ones that overheat..
So here is my new setup:
2.8GHZ P4 (one with HT , on) , oced to 3ghz.
512 (soon to be a gig) of PC2700 RAM
Radeon 9200 PRO (the SE sucks , the pro hasnt failed me yet).
120 gigs space.
