Help locating old / Pre year 2000 games you used to play.

its was kinda like risk but used modern (well modern to the game) war machines. you could build planes and ships and stuff like that. it was turn based and you could play it multiplayer. any help with what the name of this game is and where i can find it would be helpful

forgot to add: this is not isle wars. it does not have the separated countries with certain ammount of armies like risk does. instead you have your untits you move across the map until you meet an enemy unit in which case there is a battle.

any one knows of a risk game with very simple graphics..?
it doesn't show the army it only shows a digit on each piece of land.
