Power outage

Post by emmzee »

Who else's been affected by this? My power was out from about 4pm yesterday until about 4pm today ... supposedly it will be going off again soon, cuz we're going to be having "rolling blackouts" (rotating who gets power to share what they have) ...

Last night was sooooooo boring, I don't mind telling you. And hot. Soooo freakin hot.

Anyways. If you're one of the millions of people affected by this, post your own stories in this thread. Who knows when I'll be able to read 'em ...

Now I must go and make the most of the time I have with electricity! (If there is anything good about this, it has certainly made me more appreciative of what I have :D )

My power was out for about three hours last night. Turns out my neighbor three houses down had power though..so we all just kind of hung out there.

They never thought it was a terrorist attack...

I am affected by it STILL. Its on now, but it should be going off soon again. Thats like 24 hours without power. Apparently, 50,000,000 people are affected by the power outage.

fortuneately, Us New Englanders had the power off from 5 PM yesterday to 4 AM today. So I'm lucky, unlike the folks over in NY.

Us Arizonans didn't have any power outages, but we had one heck of a storm.

Of course not. Arizona is hamster-powered.

I didn't have any outages, myself.

Other than a few flickers, it stayed on though reputedly some businesses here lost power. Luckily, though we're part of the Eastern U.S./Canadian power grid, enough of the Midwest generators didn't go down to cause any real problems in Indianapolis.

We all know that it was MZ who switched the power to "Off" in the power plant.

A power place somwhere in ohio, "glitched" and went down. Thus sending a low voltage surge to a General Motors Building in Lansing and triping some power lines in ohio. Sorry I'm getting ahead of my self. That power plant has a direct line to lansing mi. Lansing has a direct line to the new york area and from there to florida and then to the west coast. BACK TO THE STORY. Thus the other plants tried to prudoce more energy for the shortage and couldn't do it. And alot of people lost power. Thus sending a over voltage back to ohio, triping the lins again. the power bounced back from ohio. Through lansing and on to New York. Then, this is really important, it went to NEW JERSY!!! Then the new jersyians pulled the grid there off-line. Thus stopping the Choas. if they didn't all of america would be out of power.

THIS IS THE REAL STORY FROM A SMART GUT, ME! At least this is where my research ended up. NO TERRORISTS!!!

Bobo was more correct. A tree hit a powerline, overloaded it, and crashed the whole system of power supplies. Thats what I heard on the news.

Depends on who you are. The Canadians are blaming a lightning strike in New York, versus the more accurate U.S. story. (Bobo's) Yeah, it sounds silly, but that's Canada for ya...

HOT?! YOU THINK IT'S HOT?! Today was 112 F!!!!!!!
That makes it +45!! Beat that! (plus, I was at a construction site outside ALL day!)
Btw...I heard about the outage (who hasn't) and yes, actually, at first, their reaction was that "what if it's terrorists?!" but then they realized it isn't. Anyways, it would've been sorta cool...except all that wasted food. Makes you think....people are being so selfish with energy and electricity. We should cut down. Anyways...I'll stop talking, because I haven't even read all the posts on here, and i might be repeating what someone said.

Excuse me? It's not the CANADIANS...it's just our *cough*stupid*cough* leader. JEAN CHROUTON (;))
I don't really believe any story but Bobo's...cuz it's true...and it's not the official "U.S. Story"
geeze, you americans think your sooo much better than us.
 hmmmm? Oh, nothing. Nothing at all.
