Some posts lose their edit-buttom but others not

Hello

Why do posts under existing threads lose their edit-button after a while, but only, when they where never edited in that time-span?

Startposts and edited posts seem to keep their edit-button forever.

In short. This is a spam-bot countermeasure. There are malicious users that sign up, make random, seemingly innocuous posts, and after a while come back and edit their posts to insert SEO links or spam messages. Often we cannot know if a user is legit or a potential spammer. Hence, posts are being locked to prevent misuse as platforms for spam.

Once you are a trusted user, you will be able to always edit your posts.
