PC, before 2010, robot with a gun arm

Hello,

There is a game, not sure when it was released (maybe before 2010), its game where you are a robot like humanoid with a gun (gun is attached to the arm) you go around picking up blocks of some sort (different shapes), there are couple of levels, each level has a boss, when you defeat the boss, you can use that boss as your character, Mind you every boss has different types of guns or maybe also ability, I am not sure if it's robot, but that's as far as I remember, it's almost like lego parts, if you die, you collapse as if you have thrown legos
