Browser game, no graphics, based on guilds/points/link sharing(?)

Ok this is a stretch because I barely remember the game myself but I'm really hoping to remember what it was.

This was a browser/website "game", not sure of the year but 90s to maybe early 00s. There wasn't any graphics to the game, when you landed on the site it was basically just a paginated leaderboard of players with their points and some other stats. When you start you are at the bottom of the leaderboard. You can then "battle" other players to earn points and progress up the leaderboard. Battling also had no graphics or even interaction if I remember, you just click "battle" and it rolls random win/lose based on your stats. If you beat a player higher ranked than you, you get more points, lower you get less.

That's essentially the whole gist of the game, but a few more details I remember. You could join guilds/clans, and this somehow affected the amount of points you could get and points you earned are contributed to the guild. This made guilds a big part of the game and it was prestigious to get on one of the better ones. If I remember correctly there may have been some form of "link sharing" to earn points as well. Like you'd put a link to the game around the web and if someone clicks it you gain points like an affiliate link. Also I believe the website had a primarily black background if that helps narrow it down.
