Mission based space game 2d top down

I played this probably in 2012?

I downloaded it on MAC and it might be available for PC too

i remember the beginning of the game when you clicked the first mission or something was a cutscene;

the cutscene was like earth or a planet being destroyed by some red motherships or something and then you had to go destroy the red empire I guess.

the mission menu was all like different planets i think? there was a minimap that had fog as well and you had to uncover more of the map to see it.

another mission was trying to turn an enemy ship to your side by shooting its shield or something like that

probably released in early 2000's? maybe mid idk

It was similar but it was more pixelated. It wasn't as advanced, there was no trading. It did have a shop you could upgrade your ship with though

I would have said 'Starflight' based on it being more pixelated, but you had no trading in your game.
This would be a plain space shooter then, only with some cutscenes and missions on planets (with map fog)?

No trading, space shooter with the mission map being just different planets going from left to right and then the next row was like right to left.

the intro was red alien ships destroying earth. Yea, there was map fog and the minimap hid the areas with fog. You had to explore it to uncover it (but perhaps sometimes it wouldn't uncover i think)

Real-time combat or turn based? Only top down or more close in-cockpit views in battles?

Incoming might be too advanced?

unfortunately none of them

this is so infuriating lol cause like i remember the game crystal clear (minus a few things) but it was just so fun.

Not Raptor: Call of the Shadows? That is older and only fits part of your description, but word is there was a 2010 edition, released on the Mac as well...

Unfortunately not
