2d sidescroller about a squirrel with a gun [Jazz Jackrabbit 2]

I played this game on pc, probably on a snes or mega drive emulator (but it could just be a pc game), I played it around 2006 I believe, but it could be way older. I remember very little of it: I remember there was two main playable characters, they were squirrels, they had guns. But not regular guns, they could shoot different types of projectiles, it was very much like an old pixel 2d platformer like mario, or sonic. I remember a stage that was inside of a castle, and sadly that is all

IT IS!! Oh, I thought they were squirrels but turns out it just has been so long that I didn't remember, at least they were rodents
