Pirate game from the 90s

Post by anondo »

Hello DOSGames.com,

Ive been thinking about the days when I was young. At my grandparents house, they had an old machine, which was using big floppy discs.

There was this very special and genius game, which was basicly where you had a ship, with cannons and crew. You could then move around the map with several commands which was listed. It was kinda turnbased, because of these commands which came up on the screen. I cant remember if you saw a map or not, but most of it was text based.

You had cannons and crew, and could find and attack other ships, like a pirate, and take their crew and cannons to make your ship better.

I cant remember the name, and hope any of you guys know what I am talking about.

Thanks.

A bit vague ... covers a lot of the early 'pirate' themed games.

It won't be one of Sid Meyer's one, I think.

Naaa, will be something a bit older, .....long shot:
Pirates of the Barbary coast?

Take a look@

Maybe some name will trigger your memory.....

It may be a possibility that it was running on an Commandore 64.

It didnt have any VGA colors, but just plain simple colors of orange text. So its an older game, than those you guys have found. I played it in the 90s, but I cant remember what year it would have been made.

You couldnt directly control the ship, other than through some options in text that was shown. And you could only change the number of crew members, cannons on board and etc. as far as I can remember.

Maybe you could ask on some Commodore 64 fan sites, better chance there.
Won't give you any link as most are offering ROM games to download, kinda illegal etcetera.....

However a tip: C64.com ..... *cough*

Not sure this was ever answered but the game your looking for sounds like.

Pirates plunder by dexterity software.

Was a 90s shareware game I believe.
