Tank game

Well, since it is my anniversary on here on WWW.DOSGAMES.COM I might give you a tank game demo. Not sure how long its going to take, but no guarantees. I'll have to see what languages I want to use since the rotation of the tank uses high mathematical calculations which is well suited for Borland Turbo C 2.01 pre-built routines. However for pixel precision when firing the tank Borland Turbo Assembler 4.1 is probably better at it. I might even give it a try in Borland C++ 2.0 super-pak since that is supposed to be the professional developer package.

Anyways remember, no guarantees. I haven't had the chance to go through my over two dozen games that I left unfinished. It started out being a demo for my programming skills and now it's kind of like people want it to be finished. It may takes year or more depending on the game.

Like I said I only started my programming freelance job about a year ago. So I'm still a new beginner. Hopefully I have until 100 years old to perfect my style and programming skills for games. Maybe even be popular like the SEGA GENESIS and such

Well, I'd a few inspiration from Jesus today so this is the basics.

The tank cannon is elementary and basic drawings.

The hard part was getting it to rotate each degree.

Did you know that this actually rotates 360 degrees? hehe

It's true.

Each degree is calculated exactly.

So when you fire it truly has 360 directions.

In this creation bless by Cheezits and Rice, the tank has full motion. It wasn't easy like it should've been. However you can move in all 360 degrees. You can even move forward and backwards. Just like a tank you have to rotate the tank first before changing the movement direction. Of course it doesn't move sideways silly hehe

Hi Tien,

I know you're trying to help out people in Finding Old Games but I think that they would want to play the game they're looking for rather than some tech demo.

Anyway I tried your tank game, is there a way you can make the control keys loop and possibly use a standardised convention for controls such as wasd for directions and space for fire (as you have already done)

Perhaps a goal for you also is to code a CPU in.

You're getting pretty good pretty quickly and you're probably due to try making something big!

Perhaps set aside more time away from the forums and code us a great game that we can all enjoy!

Well, I'll try my best and no guarantees. I should be able to use WASD for you. a CPU is a little more difficult however I'll see what my none existant brains can bring. hehe Thank you if I'm not around it's most likely I'm still alive

Hi Wally, my mom Huong Thi Vu doesn't like military stuffs.

So I'd compromise and did just the first level except you can't fire.

So it's still a tech demo.

For what it's worth my dad Nguyen Binh Thuy would say O-well.

My real dad Nguyen Binh Thuy just wanted me to be a kid and play.

Okay, here is a change that shows the speed of studying.

Initially I did it the hard way looking at every section of the screen.

Then I decided to use high school algebra and college trigonometry.

The hard way looked at the entire 64000 pixels.

The studying way took only 100 pixels to find the answer.

God, the first level of Tank has been completed on my anniversary date.

It took a lot of cramming like back in the days, but it's there.

I promise - No viruses.

It doesn't even access the harddrive.

This INTRO is more for Trigonometry and Algebra students than anything.

There is a slight Statistics and Probability element in there if you can find it.
