Christmas logo 2013!

Post by emmzee »

Whew, that took awhile. The tradition continues ... you may have to reload or Shift-reload to see the logo & background.

Here's a double-sized version: DOSGames.com Christmas 2013 double-size

Are we in a nitpicking mood today ? Are we ?

BTW, whilst we are nitpicking, dosgames.com (teh link) doesn't has a full stop, so I guess that emmzee is correct here, just saying .....)

Well when the only criticism you get is about a full stop, it means you've done a pretty good job :)

Also there is a full stop in dosgames.com, right before the "com" :D

What ? What? What ? What?
..... What? ............WHAT?
Oh, you mean a 'dot' , if it were a full stop there wouldn't be a 'com' after it...., so it's a 'dot' not a full stop.
The 'dot' here is a separator, not a full stop.
I don't know if T.H. translated the 'dot' into SGA .... doubt it.

Think i need a vacation, really.... discussing a non-existing galactic language can't be healthy .... what's next? Klingon ?
[Edit]
Now that I think bout it, after a full stop there should be a space, isn't it?

SGA..? Can't say I'm familiar with it (any chance you could shed some light on it for me?), but it does look somewhat familiar to some of what I've seen in a shorthand handbook I've got lying around in the office somewhere.

We're really arguing about a dot? If you look closely, there IS a dot after the "S" symbol before COM. So I'm not sure what the disagreement is about? I used the font listed on the 3D Realms Keen History article (the first font listed in the Keen Wiki article about SGA)

Yeah it's no big deal, I just thought that since there is an SGA letter for the dot, an "Earth" dot looked out of place. But again, if we are "arguing" about a mere dot it must mean you did a pretty good job of the image :-)

And just for the record the correct name for it is a period, and I used the term "full stop" because calling it a "dot" is slang and can often be confusing when discussing images, because it has other meanings too, like a spot or speck (for example the background is full of white dots.) I was hoping to avoid the question "which dot?" but instead got a huge discussion about what name to call it :wow:

:blah:

Interpunction.
The insertion of points between words or sentences....

Dot
Computer Science. A period, as used as in URLs and e-mail addresses, to separate strings of words, as in www.hmco.com

Actually, I've always thought that this particular punctuation mark is called a full stop.

And, while we're at it:

wikipedia wrote:Some experts call it a baseline dot, because it is a dot on the baseline, as distinct from an interpunct (a middle dot).
Yes, by all means, let's be clear so no one is confused that we mean an interpunct! How loony would that be! The language police will strictly enforce "baseline dot" lingo henceforth.

(And don't even bring up a superpunct (top dot). Are you crazy?)

But who am I? I just became 58 years old and are really new to all this computer and internet stuff.... and even ain't English native! Go figure!

Nevertheless, I think I will keep my usual habits, and call dosgames http://dosgamesdotcom/

http://www.dosgamesfull stopcom/ would feel silly......

Also, where are Dogbreath, Wally, Larry and 1LT Worm when we need them?
