Looking for old text game

Hi,
I'm looking for an old dos game from the '80's. I believe it was a text adventure and you'd find items that had weird names. You had to combine basic items to create more advanced items. And then you could combine those items to make even more advanced items. You had to figure out "recipes" of items to create the items you wanted. Any idea?
