Post by Guest »

I am trying to get NBA Live 95 to work on my Windows 7 HP laptop. I've read other articles and forums, but nothing I do seems to work.

Can anyone please help me???

Elaborate on that "nothing" please, what did you try till now?

Win7, 32 or 64?

Do you have the original game?

I have the original disk in my drive, E. I mounted it correctly.

I'm at E:\NBA95>

I try running the exe file, but when I try to run/install it says "Please run INSTALL from your CD."

You really gonna need to be more communicative .....

Mounted in what ?
What is correctly? Could you tell us how you did that?

In what? E:\NBA95 prompt in windows command window? VPC? Dosbox? What?

Could you please be a bit more in to details?

I already can tell you that if you're in dosbox "E:\NBA95" is completely wrong.
But that's also all I can tell from what you've posted.

It's impossible for me to help you with the scarce info you provide.

alright, well I'm obviously doing something wrong then.

I'm trying to run it in dosbox .74

I have a brand new hp laptop, 64-bit

I have the original cd in the e drive

Is there any other info I can provide?

Is there any way you can give me some steps to follow in order to mount it, in dosbox, and install correctly?

First of all, under Win7 it's really important to correctly mount a virtual C

Mounting a CD in dosbox is always done as drive D: , regardless what the drive letter is under Windows. Windows drive letters have no relevance towards dosbox drive mounts.
As your CD drive is E your mount line must be:
mount d e:\ -t cdrom

Install the game from D: to C: within dosbox.

Ok, I followed that.

I mounted the d drive as you said.

D:\>install

but then it says:
"Your hard disk is full.
You need to delete some files before you can install the game."

Could it be that my d drive is my recovery?
The game is not that big and I still have 1.63 gb free on my d drive

That won't do here.

Post all your mount lines, in detail please, and your inputs.

ok. again, I'm using DOSBox .74
The original NBA Live 95 cd in my e drive

I open DOSBox

Z:\>mount c "c:\users\your name\oldgames"
Directory c:\users\your name\oldgames doesn't exist.

Z:\>c:
Drive C does not exist!
You must mount it first. Type intro or intro mount for more information

Z:\>mount d e:\ -t cdrom
MSCDEX installed
Drive D is mounted as CDRom e:\

Z:\>d:

d:\>install
DOS/4GW Professional Protected Mode Run-time Version 1.97
Copyright (c) Rational Systems, Inc. 1990-1994

Your hard disk is full.
You need to delete some files before you can install the game.

What?
Is your user name under Win "your name" ???

Dosbox can only work with a virtual C mounted correctly.

Replace "your name" by your user name under Windows.

Ehm, no, install is only needed once, then:

launch the game from c:\nba95\ in dosbox, not from d: , however you must of course first mount your CD as D: also.

In short:
launch dosbox, mount CD and do a
cd nba95
on your c: prompt in dosbox so you get c:\nba95> prompt
