I have no mouth and I must scream [Win7 64]
Hey people. I have been able to install the game, but whenever I close DOSbox, I have to install it every time to play it. I also get a message saying 'cannot save config file' when I try to change the sound driver.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have it in a .bin file.

Seems that didn't go swell:theotter wrote:....One bloke just gave me these commands and they allowed me to install.
Read my post, apply how to install dosbox correctly in Win 7, install the game from D on C in dosbox.theotter wrote:Hey people. I have been able to install the game, but whenever I close DOSbox, I have to install it every time to play it.
No need for freesize with that game, and please forget all the other -t dir stuff.

You need the BIN and CUE file together.
You mount the CD image as D:\ in dosbox pointing to the CUE file
Go to your D: prompt
Input install
Accept C:
Accept \scream
Choose full install size ( 115MB)
After install sound config
MIDI: SB 16 -> autoconfig
DIGI: SB16 or AWE32 -> autoconfig
-> done
Installer will leave you in c:\scream, input:
s.exe vesa
to run the game
To run the game after you closed /reopen dosbox:
mount your CD image again as D: and input on your dosbox C:\ prompt:
cd scream
s.exe vesa
That's it, runs fine, no problems.
should you have problems:
Mount lines
And eventually error messages.
[Edit]
BTW, you can create a batch file to mount that CD image.
If you don't know what I mean by that you also simply can add the full CD imgmount line under your virtual C: mount line in dosbox conf under the [autoexec] header.
Should you want to disable that imgmount later simply put a # in front of the line, dosbox will ignore it.

Should be:theotter wrote:I typed IMGMOUNT D C:\users\hayden\oldgames\nomouth.bin -t iso
imgmount d "c:\users\hayden\oldgames\nomouth.cue" -t iso
Always point to the cue file.
however, maybe it will work correctly with this specific game as it isn't a mixed mode CD, but when you try to mount a mixed mode CD pointing to the BIN file it won't work
BTW, did you alter the name of that CD image....? Carefull when you do that with a CUE/BIN image, names are stored in the CUE file, if they don't match anymore you gonna get troubles.
To be able to tell you the exact commands I need all the exact info from you.theotter wrote:Mate its all well and good to say mount and whathaveyou but I find it easier if you tell me the commands.
Read my post again, if you don't understand what I mean simply add the imgmount line under [autoexec] in dosbox config.theotter wrote:Batch files and all that stuff are not something I use at all. So saying that is not really useful unless you tell me exact commands

Full screen is usually a bad idea on modern hardware with dosgames.
Look in dosbox config under header [SDL]
Alter the settings as this:
fullscreen=false
fulldouble=false
fullresolution=original
windowresolution=1024x768
output=ddraw
windowresolution=1024x768 can be anything you prefer, as long you keep 4/3 ratio and keep it below your windows desktop resolution.
output can also be something else, openGL or watever, not surface! , as you prefer, try things out.
Speech problem is probably related to your BIN mount or you have a faulty CD image, if you follow my instructions the game works flawless.

Two possibilities:
or rerun install from D:
Or better:
run dosbox and input:
cd scream
cd drivers *your prompt must change to \scream\drivers\ here*
setsound
[Edit]
Seems there is a third (and also the easiest) possibility:
run install from c:\scream\ prompt in dosbox, you'll get a menu with an option to set the sounddrivers.
