CD-ROM Today download question!

Post by ZQ »

Hi! I recently found this forum and was browsing the "Old CD Magazines" thread in the Find Old Games forum, and was very interested in the CD-ROM Today demos. I used Megaupload to get the 6/95 one, but I can't get it to run!

Thus far, I joined the two parts together and burned that onto a blank CD disk. When I run the disk though, I just get a lot of folders (AOL, AZ, BRETT, DOSEND, etc) with files I can't open. Does anyone know what needs to be done to get the disk to play? Or does this disk work differently and if so, is there a file I need to look for in the folders? I'm trying to get at the demo games on the disk, and am really not sure what to do to find them.

I'm really sorry if this seems dumb, I'm really not the most knowledgeable person for this sort of thing. Thanks!

Did you join the 2 files with HJSPLIT first?
Did you unzipped the resulting file?
What's your OS?

Details .... details .... and moar details......

Oh, I'm sorry! I joined the two files with FFSJ (Fastest File Splitter and Joiner) and I unzipped it and got the .iso file from it. I used Active ISO Burner to burn it to a blank CD. I have a Vista, 32-bit Operating System.

You did it right, but:
CD is a mixt one, MsDos/Mac hybrid.

In Vista those kinda gives problems, best solution is to get VPC2007 and install W9X in it, pref W98SE, then it works.
After all, probably 99% from what's on that CD will not work directly in Vista, you'll need VPC anyway.
You can mount the ISO directly in VPC.
