RSS/Atom feeds are still a useful technology to have around, in the right context. I do use them for some things (news aggregates, for example), but I don't really have any interest in using them for forums, personally.

I use Discord for various other group communications already, so, I could always lurk a bit for the sake of it. :-)

This is normal behaviour for spambots; Almost always automatic. Useful as a potential indicator. :-)

It's pretty shitty what they've done, but certainly not something new or recent; This has been going on for quite some time now.
