286s were a bit before my time but....
Doom - minimum spec of at least a 386 (everyone went uot and bought a 486 though!)
RAM - check them in different combinations in case one of the chips is faulty

PCI Sound cards in *Real* DOS
I'm just wondering is it possible to set up the IRQ/DMA/IO etc... on a modern PC that has DOS installed? I havent actaully got around to trying this, but if anyone else has already tried this It would be great to hear your experinces with it.

Turns out Fallout 1/2 is my speciality (well modding it anyway...) For a in depth tutorial on setting it up in XP go here http://www.nma-fallout.com/article.php?id=1593 NT/WinXP users can get around the installer by manually installing the game themselves. Note however that you must have at least NT...

You may just have a currupted download, I've downloaded it from there a couple of times and it works sweet (well in DOS anyway).
