As far as I know:

Windows 95, Windows 95 A = MS-DOS 7.00
Windows 95 B, Windows 95 C, Windows 98, Windows 98 SE = MS-DOS 7.10
Windows ME = MS-DOS 8.00

NT is more solid and reliable, and for some things it might even be faster and stronger. But it is a mighty gamble, and depending on what software/hardware you're running, the switch to NT 4 might be worse than keeping your 95 system.

OK guys. Macintoshes tend to be more reliable while Windows tends to be more flexible. Just like an elastic band is more likely to break than a tight rope. If you want a system that almost never crashes, get a Mac. If you want a system that offers more freedom and versatility, get Windows. Or better...

The only way to ban them would be an IP address ban, and even that is precarious.

You may need a slower computer. See if you can get access to a slow, older computer to run the game on.

Windows 2000 and Windows XP use almost identical kernels, and therefore about 99.9% of the time whatever works in 2000 will work in XP, and whatever doesn't work in 2000 also will not work in XP. It looks to me like the game is trying to get direct access to RAM. Windows 95, 98, and ME were tolerant...
