Quadko: I did try the Factorio demo but I found it very awkward to play. I expected a mouse interface more than anything, not a WASD input mode. I like simulation games where I can idle for a bit and having to actually control the very movement of my avatar is the total opposite. The game industry s...

Both The Settlers II and Seven Kingdoms have open-source versions nowadays: - Widelands (clone) https://wl.widelands.org/ - Seven Kingdoms: Ancient Adversaries (actual source game with improvements) http://7kfans.com/ Knights & Merchants is 75% off on Steam right now, practically for free, reall...

What are your favorite simulation games?

By simulation I mean games like SimCity or Dungeon Keeper which simulate a digital world, not racing or flying games. I understand that some people prefer to call these strategy games but they're not your typical strategy games either, like Warcraft or Civilization. I'm particularly interested in ol...

This makes no sense at all. The RSS feed would only be the result of the posts made in the forum. If the forum has spam, the feed has spam. Having a feed does not increase or decrease spam. I'm not suggesting a single forum-wide feed but per-thread or per-board feed - as with any other forum that su...

Spelunky also has an early version that you can play around with in the browser. It's not nearly as complete as the commercial version but you can surely have some fun around with it (and maybe buy the game if you like it enough)! It's more of a roguelite than a roguelike but it was pretty successfu...

"not really active enough to warrant a feed"? What does forum activity have to do with having a feed or not? Maybe it would become more active if it had feeds for all the people like me?

Spam filtering? What does this have to do at all with RSS feeds? I honestly have no idea.

That implies that you have a habit of coming back here and checking new threads like this one, right? That's not a habit I have and I'll probably never develop it. For me and other people interested in the forum, but not to the extent of coming back daily or so for updates, some sort of subscription...

Matt Barton has some great interviews with one of the founders of Sir Tech, though I'd share https://www.youtube.com/user/blacklily8 ... rt+sirotek

MicroProse was a good one too!

Definitely Sir Tech! I was looking at the latest Jagged Alliance game on Steam this week and apparently it's a huge pile of :P what a shame... I think the reviews say it all http://store.steampowered.com/app/25601 ... Flashback/

RSS feeds

I know this is a complicated thing to ask for when it comes to using a pre-established forum software but maybe someone knows of a plugin or easy way to make it work. I'm especially interested in RSS or Atom feeds for new threads, site-wide or for each sub-forum: it would help a lot keeping up with ...

What is your favorite DOS-era game developer or publisher?

There are some companies I can't help but get a surge of nostalgia every time they're brought up, even if they went extinct a decade ago. What companies do you wish had kept on giving, with maybe just one more game? What do you think they'd be doing if they were still alive today? My personal favori...

Thanks, it's great to know there's an active DOS forum for gamers :D just the other day I was beating myself around trying to get C&C:RA running on DosBox... I was sure I had it going a while ago  point being: I feel quite at home here already! MrFlibble: you think Javelin is worthy of...

Hey fellows! I'm really happy you enjoyed Javelin (enough to post it here and give it a try at least) so I just wanted to drop by and say hi! The next version is really 99% ready to come out (I'm super lazy though and haven't worked on it for a while) and it's gonna be a big one, with mouse support ...
